Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am just unveiled his smartwatch the Puls at the Dreamforce conference. Pronounced as “pulse,” the smartwatch is voice controlled via a Siri type feature called Aneeda. It ships with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Salesforce. It also has the expected photo, email, contacts, call, texting, calculator, music, fitness and music.
The Puls watch, will be released under the i.am+ brand and it took a team of 35 engineers two and a half years to build the wearable. The finished product has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also sports GSM 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a pedometer and accelerometer. The battery is part of the strap along with a speaker.
The Puls’ fitness feature keeps track of your reps as you workout. I.am+ is working on a app that lets you sync your Puls with another person’s Puls to share workout information with each other.
There is a full GIS element from ESRI in the watch that can record spacial relations for mapping. The Puls also will have the Humin app pre-installed. The app will let you exchange your contact info by knocking cuffs together. It can identify a contact by using your voice on the way you met that person. For example: You want to call someone you met at a bar, just say “call that guy I met at the bat last night.”
There is no information on when you’ll be able to actually buy the Puls or how much it’ll cost.
